Whether you wear a watch for style or functionality, you know a watch is an essential item to own. Let's take a quick journey to learn about them deeply.

A watch is a portable accessory intended to be carried or worn by a person. It is designed to be worn around the wrist, keeping a consistent movement despite the motions caused by the person's activities. The wristwatch is attached by a strap of any material such as rubber, silicon, fluororubber strap, or another type of bracelet like metal bands, etc.

Whether it's sporty, quirky, or a simple watch, a timepiece is a jewelry item for both men and women that says a lot about the personality of the person wearing it. Undoubtedly, we choose our watches the same way we select jewelry, depending on the moment or occasion, but also based on the model's size, diameter, shape, material, and strap style. Keeping the same in view, Tsar Bomba manufactures watches that have a watch look suiting every occasion type and personality.

According to the company's CEO, “A watch can mark elegance or set the tone for the rest of an outfit”.✨

  • Introducing you to the components of the watch
  • Different types of watch movement

Watch history

Spring-powered watches were in use in the 14th century, and in the following 17th century, clocks were developed from those watches.  Later, in 1960, the quartz clock powered by a battery used a vibrating quartz crystal to tell time came into existence.  By the 1980s, quartz watches had successfully replaced the mechanical watch in the market. This is considered the quartz revolution in history (also known as the quartz crisis in Switzerland).

There was a time when soldiers, sailors, and explorers used watches exclusively for practical purposes to measure the earth, time, and space. But watches started gaining popularity in the 20th century, and now it is used by almost everyone. Even though our computers and smartphones can tell us exactly what time it is, watches are still appreciated and are everyone's favorite accessory that can be combined with almost any outfit.

Introducing you to the components of the watch

Let's break down the watch components and learn each of them one by one in detail. The below-explained components of the watch are the ones that nearly every watch will have.

  • Case

The outside covering of the watch in which all the watch's internal components are kept is called a case. The watch case is typically made of stainless steel, depending on the watch's style, because steel is tough, can withstand minor shocks, and doesn't tarnish.

To your knowledge, Tsar bomba uses 316L Stainless Steel case material for watch manufacturing. Whether the watch has a quartz, mechanical, or automatic watch movement type, the case also includes it. We will cover more on the movement later in this article, so keep reading.

  • Crown

Simply said, a little knob present on the side of the watch to set or change time is called the crown. The watch's internal movement receives power from the crown. It is often located at the 3 o'clock position, though various watch brands use alternative positions depending on the function they serve.

Some watches offer a window indicating date and seconds, activated by pulling the watch's crown out. Since the Tsar Bomba watches are highly water resistant, the crowns on water-resistant watches are screwed down into the case, so there would be no possibility left for the water to make its way inside the watch.

  • Lugs

The point where the watch's case attaches to the watch strap/band/ bracelet using metal spring bars is known as a lug. Watch lugs are also known as watch horns.

  • Strap / Buckle

The watch is tightened to your wrist with the help of a strap or a buckle, which are generally made of a different material. Most of the watches are either made of metal bracelets or rubber material. Witnessing the advantages of using rubber/silicone straps over any other material, watch straps at Tsar Bomba are made more with rubber material, providing the best to the customer.

  • Hands

The hands indicate time, often divided into hours and minutes. Most of the time, the hour hand is smaller than the minute hand. Inconspicuous designs may also be present on the hands.

Ever ponder why, every time you purchase a watch, the watch is shown in a store with the predetermined time of 10:10? In the early days of watchmaking, the hands' ideal position to prevent overlapping and maintain balance was at 10:10. However, soon, people began to associate 10:10 with expensive timepieces.

  • Bezel

Bezel is the outer ring that joins the lugs to the case and holds the watch crystal in place. Although bezel can come in various materials, it is typically made of metal. However, with Tsar Bomba you can grab ceramic watches that are not just waterproof but also highly durable.

  • Crystal

A transparent glass material that covers the face of the watch is called crystal. Crystal makes the time visible by shielding the dial and hands from dirt and debris.

Sapphire crystal with a hardness of 9 on a Mohs scale next to the diamond is used while manufacturing Tsar Bomba watches. So, you will find a couple of stunning diamond watches in their collection.

  • Dial

Dial/ face, the watch's main body, is used to display the time using fixed digits in the form of Roman, Arabic, or indexes coupled with moving hands.

Different types of watch movements

Mechanical, Quartz and Automatic are three different types of watch movements of the watch. Briefly explaining about each of these movements below:

1. Mechanical:

A Mechanical movement needs manual winding to continue ticking and keeping time. The wearer manually turns a metal knob known as the crown to wound a mechanical watch.

A mechanical movement is the most precise and can easily last for a decade.

2. Automatic:

Automatic movement works largely the same as mechanical movement. The only difference is that they require kinetic energy from the wearer's wrist to power the wind. An automatic movement is identical to manual movement, with an extra weight called a rotor. Rotor helps the movement to spin freely.

3. Quartz:

A quartz movement uses a battery as its primary power source and is typically the type of movement you will find in your standard, no-frills watches. Most of the time, Quartz watch batteries are replaced after every 18 months to two years.

Conclusion

To recapitulate, a timepiece has a history emerging since the start of the 17th century when pocket watches were popular among sailors and soldiers. It was during the 20th century when watches became popular among men and women.

Various watch components joined together, such as the case, crown, lugs, strap, bezel, crystal, and dial, make a complete wristwatch. Moreover, different watch movements have different functions, as aforementioned above.
